I don't know any of the people in the photos. I hiked alone. I never went close to the river while taking photos, so if things look close its the zoom. Never climb over rails or go close to the river. Its all too easy to fall in and the current is very strong.
Hiking from the Vernal Footbridge to the top of Vernal Fall. (Height of the fall is 317 feet, 97 meters). For the hike from the valley to the footbridge
go back to the previous photo gallery. If you can't make it to the top of Vernal Fall, that's OK, the last 0.1 mile goes past the fall, you can no longer see it, and is nothing special. Nor is there anything special about being on top, though its nice. The best (and most difficult) part of this 0.3 mile hike is the middle third of the hike. Be aware... steps are very uneven, wet, often with water rushing down, more often than not there's no rail to hold on to, and you will get misted (or more likely) rained on heavily by the waterfall, and it will be very windy in parts, water rushing down the fall creates a lot of wind.
