Nevada Fall (top) and Vernal Fall (bottom) are often refered to as The Giant Staircase. In the lower half of the photo to the right of the river you get a nice view of part of the mist trail.

Vernal and Nevada Falls as seen from Washburn Point. Its probably just a mile or 2 as the crow flies, but if you take the Panorama Trail from Glacier Point to the top of Nevada Fall you have to hike 5 miles. Then its another 3.5 or so miles to the valley floor.
